April 4 - 7, 2013

We arrived on a rainy Thursday afternoon to this lovely little home tucked in the woods. Joanne and Gary met us here to show us around. They were really warm and friendly and we immediately felt comfortable. We set out to do what we came for.... absolutely as little as possible! Most of the time we spent reading, playing horse shoes and laying in the warm sun. We also canoed out on the river and bird watched and enjoyed a huge bon-fire and ate S' mores! We ventured out a couple times to eat. We drove out to Ozello and had a tasty dinner at Peck's... loved it! The drive was terrific!! Oh, and the Dairy Queen! :-)

The few days here, though not enough, reenergized us. Thank you Joanne and Gary - We hope to see you again.

We had a wonderful time here. This house is so homey, makes you feel like you belong here. The natural nature coast boating was perfect. Saw lots of manatees, fish and a few dolphins. We enjoyed cook out with our family and friends and especially our 4 legged ones. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home.

April 27 - May 8, 2013

Our family stayed for 11 wonderful nights at this awesome vacation house. We felt at home from the moment we walked in the door. We had so much fun canoeing and kayaking on the river. We took one of the maps the owners left in a basket on the counter and were able to find the big fresh water spring that feeds the river. We saw all kinds of fish and birds - and the butterflies were out every day!

Peck's Restaurant in Ozello was great. Also Neon Leon's in Old Homosassa has great Cajun food. We also enjoyed appetizers and drinks at Homosassa Riverside Resort and watched the monkeys on Monkey Island. Yes! There are actually live monkeys!!

We will be back!!!

May 10 - 13, 2013

A group of our Floridian Fishing Guides spent the above dates in Citrus County thanks to Gary and Joanne.

Gary and Joanne were awesome helping us from when we arrived until we had to go back to work.

Some day soon we would love to relocate to Homosassa and stay at the beautiful home Gary and Joanne provided us while we vacationed in Homosassa and fished the beautiful waters throughout Citrus County.

We will return ASAP. You can bet your bippi on that!

    6th Wedding Anniversary!!

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our 6th wonderful years together! We brought our 2 boxer dogs, Artie and Angie, and had our best friends, Kris and Al, join us!
Day 1
The dogs went kayaking with us, a first, and actually had a great time and did not tip the boat once! We also had a huge bonfire, despite the warm temperature, and enjoyed listening to Mike Lange broadcast the Pittsburgh Penguins game!
Day 2
Woke up early and spent most of the morning laying around enjoying the peace and quiet. Around 2 PM the four of us went to the Homosassa Riverside Resort to rent kayaks and see Monkey Island. Highly recommend.

Thanks Gary and Joanne for the hospitality and beautiful cabin! This was one of the best anniversaries!

May 31 - June 2, 2013

Beautiful and Sunny Weekend!

Arrived here at 7:30ish in the afternoon and walked out to the river to checkout the scene. Immediately saw 2 manatees (watch for the floating manatee tag) (picture of manatee with floating manatee tag inserted to right). Water was crystal clear. Took the kayak out the next morning and caught a 3 lb. large mouth bass on a plastic worm. Caught up with the manatees feeding right around the corner. Explored and found 2 springs and an abandoned house (where the manatees were).

Grilled steaks, relaxed and slept in the amazing bed.

Visited the Homosassa Springs State Park. We saw every type of fish that make this area its home. Huge Snook, Redfish, Sheepshead, Snapper, Mullet, Lady Fish, Bream, and Bass. Check out their underwater observatory. Plus it is only 5 miles down the road.

Gary and Joanne were very friendly and welcomed us even on short notice. We were lucky to have found them and this "cozy cottage".

Thank you for an amazing weekend getaway.

June 4 - 12, 2013

We arrived from Ireland with our 2 kids, ages 13 and 16. We were greeted by tropical storm Andrea but that didn't dampen our spirits.

We had a great time here. On our first morning at the river we saw dolphins. We had a few encounters with manatee, saw 2 baby alligators, lots of birds and jumping fish.

Joanne and Gary were great, were there if we needed them but didn't invade our privacy.

Whilst here we ate at the Freezer (really good steak on Wednesday night), Neon Leon's (great fun). Full of characters and fat daddys. We kayaked on Rainbow Springs and hired a pontoon on Homosassa River.

Overall, a great time was had by all.

This is Florida at its best.
